    "Developing Your Emotional Intelligence"

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Mark Shelley, Yavapai College Faculty, Business, Education, and Social Sciences Division.  Emotional Intelligence (EI) competencies are at the heart of effective workplace relationships and productivity; “EQ” is reported to be responsible for 58% of job performance!  This presentation emphasizes the practical application of EI concepts/skills that are the core of achieving personal awareness, connecting with others, managing stress, engaging healthy conflict.

Prepare for the workshop by reading the book Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves/Talentsmart (a book which continues to appear in the top ten Nielsen ratings!) and taking the EI quiz that’s included. Please contact Dee Skipton from PAHRA at Deeidra.Skipton@goodwillaz.org if you are interested in obtaining a copy of the book.

    About our Presenter:

Even with 30 years of teaching experience, a Ph.D. in Urban Studies, a master's in Cross-cultural Studies, and a multitude of publications, what stands out about Mark Shelley is his enthusiasm for helping students learn, grow and succeed.

A professor of Sociology and Psychology, Shelley is also co-coordinator of Yavapai College's First Year Experience Course, which fits in perfectly with his passion. The course is designed to develop qualities that will enable students to be successful both in the classroom and outside of it.

    • In his nine years at Yavapai College, he has served as the Division Dean for Liberal Arts and the Dean for the Northern Arizona University-Yavapai Campus. Additionally, he is in the process of organizing study abroad programs as part of the new International Adventurers Club of Yavapai College.

Dr. Shelley holds an MA in Educational Psychology (Cal State Northridge), an MA in Missiology (Fuller Theological Seminary), and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies (University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee)
