Please join us in welcoming John P. Johnson, Director of Occupational Safety for Elwood Staffing.  Founded in 1980, Elwood Staffing, a privately-owned corporation, is recognized as one of the largest staffing firms in the United States.  Elwood’s success is based on operationalizing several business philosophies, including “Protect the health and safety of all corporate employees and associates. We will not compromise the health and safety of any person for business gain and will ensure safe and healthy workplaces.”  John plays a major role in supporting that philosophy.

Mr. Johnson will discuss recent changes in OSHA safety guidelines, most frequently sited OSHA violations and best practices to avoid/navigate an unannounced inspection. 

John P. Johnson has been with Elwood Staffing Services since 2005.  As one of his many duties he conducts hazard evaluations of client and prospective client operations, conducts incident investigations, and provides safety support and guidance for Elwood Staffing Branches.  Prior to joining Elwood Staffing, he served as Safety Program Coordinator for the Salt Lake City Department of Airports, Sr. Loss Control Consultant for Fremont Compensation (where his duties included site inspections to determine compliance with OSHA, ACGIH, ASHRAE, and NFPA regulations and standards) and as Chemical Officer in the US Army Reserves (where he advised on issues of nuclear, biological, and chemical defense issues).  Mr. Johnson holds an MS in Industrial Safety Management from the University of Central Missouri and a BS in General Psychology from Brigham Young University.
